A candlelight vigil is planned in honor of Marcus Edwards, a Morgan State University student who died after being stabbed in the chest near campus Monday night.

The vigil is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Earl G. Graves School of Business and Management.

Police found the 21-year-old social work student in the 5400 block of Loch Raven Boulevard suffering from a stab wound. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died.

Police have not yet identified a suspect.

Loved ones created a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral and burial costs, saying Edwards had plans to become a D.C. Police officer.

“While Baltimore Police Detectives are frantically working the case, we are left holding our heads, wiping away tears, consoling one another and asking God, ‘Why?’,” supporters wrote.

Edwards is the second Morgan student to be killed this year, after Gerald Williams was stabbed in an altercation back in February.
