Call for an assault turns into a homicide investigation in Fells Point

A man was shot and killed in Fells Point Monday night.

Baltimore Police were called at 7:35 p.m. to the 1500 block of Eastern Avenue in Southeast Baltimore for an aggravated assault.

Police found James Forrester, 43, from Ransom, West Virginia being cared for by Baltimore City medics. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital where he died.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday morning and it was determined Forrester died after being shot in the chest.

Detectives are attempting to locate witnesses and view video footage to try and determine what happened.
