A field in west Baltimore will now be a space for kids.
The Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation unveiled the Eddie Murray field at BGE Park Wednesday. The field is named in honor of Baseball Hall of Famer and Orioles legend Eddie Murray.
The park will give kids in west Baltimore a safe place to play, as well as mentorship through sports and recreation.
The park will also serve as the home field for the James Mosher Baseball Youth League.
The field features synthetic turf, dugouts, a backstop, and a digital scoreboard.
Eddie Murray field will be gifted to and maintained by the Baltimore City Public School System.
Since 2009 the Cal Ripken Senior Foundation has created 74 parks in 21 states across the country including 11 parks in Baltimore.
