To welcome students back to school, Baltimore Police officers will be at 159 city schools as they start the school year Tuesday, the department said.

The department also said it would relaunch the Officer Friendly program later this year. The program is part of the BPD's emphasis on community policing and building strong relationships with city residents.

Mayor Catherine Pugh and Interim Police Commissioner Gary Tuggle will participate in the back to school greetings as well.
