BARCS shines light on sick puppy Sunny

The Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter is asking for the public to help chip in and provide care for a puppy found in rough shape.

Little Sunny was found by Baltimore City Animal Control and rushed straight to BARCS as she was suffering from an extreme case of Demodex, better known as demodectic mange, or just "mange." It hurts for her to do most anything – stand, sleep, clean herself, blink, or breathe. Her skin frequently bleeds, even when it's not touched. Though she can barely move and can't enjoy the usual joyful bounce with which puppies approach the world, the BARCS staff say her little tail still wags whenever someone comes by to share some affection.

Sunny is roughly six months old. She had no known owner when found and was considered a lost puppy, BARCS said. Her care is being paid for out of the organizations Medical Care Fund so she can now get treated to ease the pain and eventually be adopted. Anyone can donate to this fund. If you'd like your money to go directly to helping Sunny, include her name in the "additional comments" section of the donation form.
