The Baltimore Teachers Union is collecting fans and monetary donations to help keep city students cool when classes begin on September 3rd.

Dozens of city schools had to close early on the first few days of school last year because of the intense heat and lack of air conditioning.

People can drop off new box or standing fans at union headquarters on Metro Drive.

The BTU is also accepting donations so they can buy fans.
