Baltimore teachers disapprove a bill that would allow them to be armed in class.
Harford County Del. Rick Impallaria proposed the measure following the school shooting in Parkland, Fla. that left 17 people dead.

As a bill hearing was held Tuesday in Annapolis, the Baltimore Teachers Union released a statement rejecting the legislation.
"The Baltimore Teachers Union is opposed to Del. Rick Impallaria’s bill that would permit school staff to carry firearms in the schools. Our teachers work tirelessly to educate children throughout Baltimore City. Their focus should be on creating interactive instruction for their students, not arming themselves in their classrooms.
By supporting the NRA’s reckless stance on gun legislation and suggesting educators carry firearms in response to the Parkland tragedy, it is clear that many of our legislators are willing to ignore the safety of millions of students, parents and educators for a controversial, politically-motivated agenda, and is the latest example of their stark disconnect from the true needs of public schools districts across the country.”
