The Baltimore Humane Society says the storm is leading to unexpected expenses for the shelter, including the removal of uprooted trees, plowing and water damage.
The staff is trying to prevent the snow from blocking kennels, but the shelter's one snow blower has broken, making it difficult to access buildings.
The shelter is asking the public for donations of manpower, equipment or financial support. Donations can be made online.
