A Friday morning fire caused about $42,000 in damages to a Baltimore grocery store, the Baltimore City Fire Department said.

The two floors above the store, in the 400 block of E. 25th Avenue, were vacant apartments.

When firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from the second and third floor of a store. Fire was trapped in the floors, walls and ceilings of the building.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in about 40 minutes.

The business will be temporarily displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
