BALTIMORE (WMAR) — Baltimore City Solicitor Andre Davis is resigning.

Mayor Jack Young accepted the resignation this week.

“I am truly grateful for the support and counsel Solicitor Davis has provided me since I became Mayor of our great city,” said Young. “Solicitor Davis is a true public servant. When he stepped down from the bench several years ago, as a senior judge on the Fourth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, his distinguished legal career afforded him the right to rest and enjoy a much-deserved retirement. But his dedication to his hometown, and love of public service wouldn’t allow him to pass up an opportunity to serve the people of Baltimore. And his extensive legal expertise has helped us navigate the federal consent decree, in addition to supporting numerous affirmative actions to protect the residents of Baltimore City. On behalf of the citizens of Baltimore, thank you, Judge Davis, for your service. We wish you nothing but the best as you prepare for your next chapter.”

Davis’ resignation is effective March 1, 2020. Deputy City Solicitor Dana P. Moore will take over on an interim basis.
