BALTIMORE — Making sure young people succeed and thrive, that's the goal of the Baltimore Children's Cabinet.

Mayor Jack Young announced the creation of the cabinet on Wednesday. Over the summer, he established the mayor's Office of Children and Family Success to help improve the quality of life of children and their families.

The Children's Cabinet will help bolster youth-serving efforts.

"We're going to be talking about literacy," said Mayor Young. "We're going to be talking about trauma informed care. We're going to be talking about youth diversion. We're going to be talking about early childhood education."

The cabinet plans to hold work groups around those key areas where youth and community leaders will be brought to the table. The city is basing its cabinet on the 36 others across the country.
