BALTIMORE (WMAR) — The family of a miracle baby who doctors delivered after her mother had been shot, celebrated her first birthday last Tuesday.
Last year, Jasmine Kennedy was shot inside her Baltimore home by her husband, Eric Maurice Glass while she was pregnant with their child.
Jasmine was taken off life support and died a day later, but doctors at the hospital were still able to save and deliver baby Kennedy Love via an emergency Cesarean section.
A year later, Jasmine's dad James Dunton, Jr., a Baltimore City Sheriff's Deputy, and her stepmother Kimberly Dunton are raising baby Kennedy and her three siblings;
"Though it's a bittersweet thing, we want to keep everybody lifted in knowing that you know god is just he's amazing, and we don't ask why, but it's just what it is. He took a life and he gave us Kennedy", said Kimberly Dunton.
Dunton says Kennedy started walking two weeks ago and very much reminds the family of her mother.
