Appeals Court blocks officers bid to sue Mosby

A federal appeals court has blocked a lawsuit against the Baltimore state's attorney filed by officers who say she maliciously prosecuted them in the death of a black man who suffered a fatal spinal injury in custody.

The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday reversed a ruling by a lower court judge who had allowed key parts of the lawsuit against Marilyn Mosby to go forward.

Lawyers for the officers had argued Mosby charged them to ease the unrest after the death of Freddie Gray.

In response to the court's decision, Mosby released the following statement:

"I support the court's opinion that the people of Baltimore elected me to deliver one standard of justice for all, and that using the legal system to reach a fair and just resolution to Gray's death was not a political move, but rather it was my duty."
