A total of nine fire deaths have been reported in Baltimore City so far this year.
Baltimore City Fire officials announced the current number of fatalities after a deadly house fire claimed the lives of two people in northwest Baltimore.

Seven occupants were rescued from a home operating as the Kozy Kottage assisted living facility in the 2800 block of Lawina Road.
Two people died and four others were listed in critical condition.
A house fire claimed the lives of six children in northeast Baltimore back in January.

Eleven fire deaths were reported in Baltimore in 2016. In 2015, there were a total of 18 fire deaths.
Statewide, 16 fire deaths have been reported thus far, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal.
