3rd victim confirmed in Kozy Kottage house fire

A third victim has been pronounced dead after a fire that tore through the Kozy Kottage assisted living facility in northwest Baltimore Friday.

On March 3, just after 2 a.m., fire officials responded to a one-alarm fire in the 2800 block of Lawina Road.

Seven people were able to escape, six from the first floor and one from the second floor of the home, fire officials said.

Six people were taken to area hospitals in critical condition and one person refused treatment. Two people were originally pronounced dead.

The victims’ names haven’t been released. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A total of 12 fire fatalities have been reported in Baltimore City this year, according to city fire officials.
