LAUREL, Md. — Sunday afternoon, fire crews assisted a four car crash on the Baltimore Washington Parkway, just north of the Anne Arundel County and Prince George’s County line in Laurel.

Officials say a 20-year-old driver was alone and trapped in a vehicle for 15 minutes before being extricated by firefighters. He was taken to Shock Trauma where he is being treated for critical and possibly life-threatening injuries.

The second driver, carrying two other occupants was transported to Howard County General Hospital with minor injuries. The adult female driver of the third car was also taken to Shock Trauma with what officers believe are serious but non life-threatening injuries.

Fire officials said the occupant of the fourth vehicle did not require hospital transport. The United States Park Police is investigating the cause of the crash.
