Anne Arundel County Police said the suspicious person reported at a playground Wednesday was a misunderstanding.

Police located the suspect Thursday evening. The man was sitting on a bench, not far from the park, waiting for his adult son. He didn't speak English, according to police, so detectives spoke to him through an interpreter.

The man explained that, on the night in question, he was at the park waiting for his adult son to get off work so the two could return home together.

He explained to police that a child did speak to him, but he didn't know what the boy was saying because he didn't understand English.

After their investigation, detectives determined the man had no criminal intent and that the incident was a misunderstanding. The child’s family has been notified.
