Annapolis Yacht Club officials say they are leaning toward demolishing their fire-damaged headquarters in order to more easily meet federal flood plain requirements.
The Capital reports that yacht club members met with city officials Friday to discuss plans for the property, which was damaged by flames in December.
Even though club officials may be favoring demolition, Annapolis Yacht Club Commodore Debbie Gosselin says they haven't made a final decision about what to do with the three-story building.
She says demolition would make it easier to meet Federal Emergency Management Agency flood plain recommendations that would require the building to be raised about 30 inches.
Fire officials say the December fire was sparked by an electrical malfunction with a pre-lit artificial Christmas tree and caused $9 million in damages.
