LOTHIAN, Md. — A Dunkirk woman is dead after being rear-ended in a Tuesday vehicle collision.

Anne Arundel County Police say Wanda K. Hartley was driving a Honda Accord along Solomons Island Road, approaching Ducks Lane.

Suddenly the 68-year-old pumped the brakes, causing a Ford F-350 following from behind to crash into her.

Upon impact both vehicles went off the roadway, at which time Hartley's Honda struck a tree head-on.

She later died at the hospital.

The Ford driver was not hurt.
