Police identify woman killed in 295 bus crash

Police said a Queen Anne’s County woman is dead and her son seriously hurt after their minivan collided with a Megabus Sunday morning in Linthicum.

The victim is identified as Miriam Barnshaw, 65, of Centreville, Maryland. She was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

The second victim is identified as Miriam's son, Brian Barnshaw, 30, also of Centreville. He was taken to Shock Trauma with life threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation found just before 8:30am, the Barnshaws were in their Chevy Malibu, traveling west on I-695 before exiting on to northbound 295. Police said for unknown reasons, the son, Brian Barnshaw lost control merging onto I-295  skidded into the northbound lanes and was hit by a Megabus traveling in the fast lane.

There were no reported injuries from passengers on the commuter bus.

Maryland State Police are investigating.
