18-year-old Kyle John Watson was killed in an accident early Sunday morning when the driver of a car driving him and two other teens crashed. The driver, 20-year-old James Lance Sullivan III, was rushed to an area hospital with serious injuries. Both of the backseat passengers, 18-year-old Dylan Tyler Stumpf and 16-year-old Derek Justin Stumpf, had minor injuries.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department says officers responded to the crash scene before 5 a.m. Sunday at Ft. Smallwood Rd near Devere Drive.

Police investigation shows the Ford Focus was traveling northbound on Ft Smallwood Rd at a “high rate of speed.” As the driver approached a rounded curve near Devere Drive, he lost control and left the road, striking a group of trees which caused the car to roll.

Kyle Watson, in the front passenger seat, was ejected from the car.

Police believe speed and alcohol may be factors; they are still investigating the crash. All of the victims were from the Pasadena area.
