GLEN BURNIE, Md (WMAR) — Anne Arundel County Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a pickup truck Tuesday evening in Glen Burnie.

Jerome James Johnson, 57, was trying to cross Crain Highway just north of Pershing Avenue at around 5:30 p.m. when he was hit by a Chevy Silverado.

Police say Johnson was wearing dark clothing and not in a crosswalk when he walked directly into the truck's path.

Paramedics pronounced Johnson dead at the scene.

The 75-year-old male driver remained on location, and didn't appear to be speeding or impaired according to police.

Investigators believe the crash was caused by pedestrian error.

Toxicology results are pending on Johnson who's body will undergo an autopsy at the Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore.
