Part of the Patuxent River remains closed after 2 million gallons of sewage spilled into it Friday, Anne Arundel County health officials said.
The river is closed from the Howard County line to the Baltimore Washington Parkway in Laurel. Residents are asked to avoid swimming and other direct water contact.
Crews have placed warning signs downstream, and the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission will be increasing discharge from the T. Howard Duckett Dam to assist in flushing out the river.
It's unknown when that section of the river will reopen.
