Motorcyclist dies after striking utility pole in Severn

A man died after after suffering injuries when the motorcycle he was driving lost control and struck a utility pole in Severn, Monday night. 

Anne Arundel County Police said the motorcyclist was heading north on Quarterfield lane near Janet Dale Lane when the accident occurred. He was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center with critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. 

The driver was identified as Jeffery Michael King, 32, of the 900 block of Wicklow Road in Baltimore. He was driving a 1988 Kawasaki motorcycle. 

The preliminary cause of the crash was failure to remain in a single lane, and it is unknown if speed, drugs, alcohol, or other factors contributed.
