Motorcycle crash leaves driver critically injured; Anne Arundel Police investigate

Posted

Anne Arundel County Police Department is investigating a motorcycle crash that left the rider in critical condition.

On Monday, at a little after 11:25 p.m., officers responded to a single vehicle crash on Southern Maryland Boulevard near Sands Road in Lothian. The preliminary investigation showed that a 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling southbound on Southern Maryland Boulevard when the rider lost control and was thrown off the motorcycle. The rider, later identified as 34-year-old Raymond Christopher Jones, of the 200 block of 5th Street in Lothian, was taken to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with critical injuries.

The primary cause of this crash appears to be the Jones’ failure to maintain control of the motorcycle. Speed also appears to have been a contributing factor. However, the Traffic Safety Section is investigating this crash.
