Lawmakers in Annapolis met today to discuss a possible tax increase on tobacco products.
The House Ways and Means Committee proposed a bill that would bump the tax from $2 to $3 on a pack of cigarettes.
Other tobacco products could see a tax hike as well. The bill would require Gov. Larry Hogan to include $21 million in annual funding for the tobacco use prevention and cessation program
That would start in the 2018 fiscal year. The last time the cigarette tax was raised was in 2007.
