MILLERSVILLE, Md. — A man suffered serious, potentially life-threatening injuries when he became trapped in his car following striking a tree Monday night in Millersville, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said.

Emergency personnel responded to the accident along Route 3, between Route 32 and Route 175, at about 9:13 p.m., fire officials said. Firefighters found a single-car crash in which a vehicle struck a tree after traveling in the southbound lanes of Route 3. The driver, the vehicle’s only occupant, was trapped inside the car. Firefighters extracted him after about 20 minutes.

A Maryland State Police helicopter landed nearby at the Gambrills Athletic Club so the man could be transported via medevac to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for wounds that were considered serious and possibly life threatening, fire officials said.
