EDGEWATER, Md. — The Anne Arundel County Fire Department said a man drowned over the weekend in Edgewater.

Fire officials said the incident happened Saturday, August 24, at 2:51p.m. That's when firefighters responded to the Rhode River near Cadle Creek, after a 9-1-1 call reporting that a man jumped from a boat into the water and did not resurface.

When crews arrived, divers found the man and removed him from the water just after 4:00 p.m.

The departments said the man was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Annapolis Fire Department, Maryland Natural Resources Police, United States Coast Guard and Maryland State Police Aviation Command assisted with the call.
