An Edgewater man was killed Monday morning after he was struck by a pickup truck in downtown Annapolis while he was working at his landscaping job, police said.
Mario Salmeron, 39, was struck near the Maryland Fire-Rescue Services Memorial at Bladen and Calvert streets around 8:30 a.m., according to a release from the Annapolis Police Department.
The pickup, driven by Dakota Young, 22, of Pasadena, was headed southeast on Rowe Boulevard when he left the road, went over a curb and hit Salmeron, who was on foot working for a landscaping company. The driver remained on scene, and assisted police with their investigation.
The investigation is ongoing, but alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
