EDGEWATER, Md. (WMAR) — An investigation is underway after a man is found dead at the scene of a fire Wednesday afternoon.
It happened outside, in the back of two homes near 129 Dorsey Drive in Edgewater.
After receiving multiple 911 calls for reports ranging from a brush fire, to a shed fire, and even a possible house on fire, Anne Arundel County Firefighters arrived only to find a small pile of debris on fire.
It was then crews discovered the body of 35-year-old James Edward Gilmer, of Dorsey Drive.
Investigators found out that the fire occurred in about a seven by four foot plastic style storage shed and that it melted the siding of each of the two homes.
The cause of the fire is still unclear and remains under investigation.
An autopsy will be conducted by the State Medical Examiner to determine how the man died.
