ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Annapolis Police are investigating a pedestrian accident involving an elderly woman Monday.

Police said at 4:50 p.m., a 54-year-old male driver was backing up in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Norman Drive, when he struck an 80-year-old woman walking in the parking lot.

According to officials, the driver got out of his vehicle forgetting to put it in park. As a result, he was struck by the vehicle and was flown to an area hospital with the pedestrian.

The department said both are being treated for serious injuries.
