You might want to hold off on your family getaway this weekend. Anne Arundel County Department of Health announced that Smallwood Park Swimming Beach and Sandy Point State Park Beaches are closed until further notice.
Officials say that the debris from the Conowingo Dam release has made its way to these area beaches making them unsafe to swim and be around.
If your local community beach has debris, be sure to not swim or have any direct water contact until the debris stops washing ashore and the water is clear.
The Department of Health advises people coming in contact with the affected water to immediately wash with soap and warm water.
