The driver of an SUV was killed and two passengers were injured after a crash on I-97 Wednesday morning.

Just before 3:20 a.m., firefighters responded to the area of I-97 North and Brightview Drive for reports of an overturned vehicle and trapped occupant.

Firefighters arrived to find the single-car crash involving an overturned SUV.  The driver was trapped and a rear seat passenger had been ejected, according to police.

The driver, a man police believe is in his 20s, died on the scene. The ejected passenger, a 19-year-old woman, was taken to the Adult Trauma Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Paramedics also transported a six-day-old infant to the Pediatric Trauma Center at John Hopkins Children’s Center with no obvious injuries. Police said the newborn was properly restrained in a car seat.

Maryland State Police are investigating.

The scene has been cleared. No word yet on what caused the crash.
