Work is now underway to rebuild the Annapolis Yacht Club after a fire destroyed the building in 2015.
The renovated building will have an extra 650 square feet and a sprinkler system. The club building was originally built in the 70s, and did not have a sprinkler system installed when the fire broke out. Officials determined a pre-lit Christmas tree malfunctioned, sparking the fire which caused $9,000,000 in damage.
Work to shore up the building's structural supports was finished earlier this year. The club was been temporarily operating out of the former Harbor Grill restaurant while the club's building is renovated. No word on when the construction will be finished.
