Fire crews find 90-year-old woman dead inside burning Crofton home

CROFTON, Md. — One person is dead following a Thursday afternoon house fire in Crofton.

Anne Arundel County Fire officials said crews were called just before 4 p.m. to the 1800 block of Ralston Place for someone possibly trapped inside a burning home.

Responding units were able to quickly place the fire under control.

While searching the home, crews found an adult female dead inside the sun room. Anne Arundel County Fire official identified the woman as 90-year-old Rosa M. Dwarshuis, who lived in the home.

Officials said the home had no working smoke alarms. Investigators said the cause of the fire is under investigation by members of the Anne Arundel County Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit.
