Both drivers dead, toddler hurt in Route 50 crash

Two people have died and a toddler was injured in a wrong way crash on Route 50 at Exit 27/Route 2 in Anne Arundel County. 

According to police, a woman driving westbound on Route 50 struck an eastbound vehicle head on. The woman, identified as 22-year-old Laura Murphy of Salisbury, has died. 

A 14-month-old infant in Murphy's car was flown to Johns Hopkins where is he being treated for injuries.

The driver of the vehicle who was struck is a 66-year-old man. Emergency personnel extricated him from the vehicle and he was flown to Shock Trauma with critical injuries. The victim later died at the hospital. 

The crash shut down all lanes of Route 50, both eastbound and westbound, for hours Wednesday afternoon.

Maryland State Police continue to investigate the accident.
