A horse stabled in Anne Arundel County tested positive for Equine Herpes Virus.
The horse was transported to Marion DuPont Scott Equine Health Center in Virginia, where it exhibited severe neurological signs. It was euthanized shortly after arrival.
The stable owner has contacted boarders and students. The farm is under a 21-day investigational hold with strict biosecurity measures in place.
Owners are advised to monitor their horse's health, and contact a private veterinarian if a horse exhibits significant temperature changes or neurologic signs.
