A man warming up his SUV during the weekend winter storm has his car stolen when he left it unattended.

Annapolis police say the Ashton Court resident forgot his license, went inside to grab it and noticed his car was gone during the winter storm Sunday.

Officers were already following the suspect, 29-year-old Dustin Booze, after they saw him with another man who stole a dark blue 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe on the 1300 block of Tyler Avenue earlier in the day. The owner of that truck also left the engine running and the key in the ignition.

Police tracked Booze to a nearby gas station before walking to the apartment complex in the 1200 block of Ashton Court. Booze then walked behind a dumpster and ran to a GMC Jimmy that was unlocked with the engine running. He got inside and drove off.

After a short pursuit northbound on Interstate 97 towards Route 32, the SUV experienced issues and Booze drove it off the road. He was stopped and arrested.

Booze is charged with motor vehicle theft and two other criminal charges. He's being held on $3,500 bond.
