A pitbull in Anne Arundel County was euthanized after biting its owner’s arm Wednesday.

Officers responded to the 1200 block of Delaware Avenue at approximately 8:30 a.m. after receiving a call that a pitbull was attacking its owner.

The caller told officers that the dog wouldn’t let go of its owners arm and that the owner would have to be forcibly removed from the dog's grasp.

When officers arrived, the owner was able to retreat into her home, leaving the dog on the front porch. Police say they could hear the woman screaming for help inside the home, but couldn’t get past the pitbull to offer medical assistance.

The officers were able to capture the pitbull with a dog pole and forced entry into the house to help the woman.

She was transported to an area hospital for injuries to her arm, hand and leg. Animal Control removed the dog from the scene.
