Mayo Elementary School is closed for students and staff Friday due to police activity, according to Anne Arundel County Public Schools.

The investigation shut down part of Central Avenue near Loch Haven Road creating heavy traffic delays, school officials said.
Anne Arundel County Police reported that firefighters were called to the 600 block of Central Avenue East around 6:15 a.m. for a cardiac arrest report. Firefighters arrived to find a man near the road who was pronounced dead on the scene.
The cause of his death is unknown.
Route 214 was shut down in both directions due to the investigation.

School officials said all other Anne Arundel County schools will remain open, yet school bus delays should be expected.
