Two construction workers were seriously injured after both were hit by a pickup truck while working Wednesday night in Severn according to Anne Arundel County police.
Around 9 p.m. officers responded to a report that two pedestrians had been struck by a vehicle on Annapolis Road (MD-175) at Walker Drive.
During their investigation it was revealed the two workers Walter Gonzalez-Lopez, 56, and Edin Romero-Maldonado, 19, were placing cones on the road for a lane closure when Valerie Matthews, 63, entered the lane in her truck striking both of them.
Both men were taken to Shock Trauma.
Police said Lopez is in critical condition and Romero-Maldonado has serious injuries.
Matthews did not sustain any injuries in the accident.
Officers believe alcohol may have contributed to the accident, and an investigation is underway.
