An estimated 15,300 gallons of wastewater entered the Chesapeake Bay over the weekend.

The Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works (DPW) Bureau of Utility Crews was notified Sunday around 7p.m

The crew repaired the 12-inch sewer force main along Columbia Beach Road in Shady Side. The force main break occurred approximately 900 feet from the Bay.

The cause of the break was determined to be external corrosion. The affected area was limed and vacuumed.  Any necessary clean-up activities will continue Monday.
