The polls are closed, the votes are in, and election day has democrats flying high.

On Tuesday, voters decided Annapolis needed a new mayor. The unofficial results from the polls have Democrat Gavin Buckley beating out incumbent Mike Pantelides by more than 2,000 votes.

Pantelides conceded the race about an hour after the polls closed.

Frederick is also getting new leadership.

Two-term Republican incumbent Randy McClement lost his bid for mayor to Alderman Michael O'Connor.

Preliminary results show O'Connor got 58 percent of the vote, compared to 36 percent of voters who cast their ballots for McClement, who has conceded.
