New estimates are in for the cost of the U.S.-Mexico border wall

Posted

New estimates are out for the proposed border wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) reports the estimates from the Trump Administration are $66.9 billion.

On the campaign trail, Donald Trump said the wall would cost anywhere from $8 to $10 billion and that Mexico would pay for it.

The Department of Homeland Security says the President will request an initial $999 million dollars for the first 62 miles of the wall in the 2017 supplemental budget. That must be approved by Congress by April 28.

The Senate Homeland Security Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing on the border wall on April 3.
