NEW YORK (AP) — New York City police say a fellow officer may have been shot to death with his own gun when he grappled early Sunday with an armed man.

Authorities say 33-year-old Brian Mulkeen and his partner tried to apprehend a man who had fled questioning and a struggle on the ground ensued.

Mulkeen's body camera recorded him saying, "He's reaching for it! He's reaching for it!" Mulkeen was shot three times.

The suspect was shot and killed by police.
