A proposed law to decriminalize marijuana could make it okay for you to smoke pot in your car.
Ahead of the first day of the General Assembly session Wednesday, several police organizations and state's attorneys held a press conference to talk about how two laws would hurt their efforts to reduce crime in the state.
The first law makes marijuana use a misdemeanor and, the group says, as it is worded, would make it okay for you to smoke pot in your car or in public.
Gov. Larry Hogan vetoed these bills, but the group is asking that lawmakers not override that veto.
They have proposed a bill that lessens punishment for certain kinds of marijuana use, but still makes it illegal to drive under the influence.
