Young girl battling cancer at UMD proton center gets special surprise on her last day

A 3-year-old girl visiting Baltimore from South Africa for cancer treatment is almost ready to go home.

The Maryland Proton Treatment Center is using a unique method to treat her for a dangerous form of cancer – Stage 3 soft tissue sarcoma.

Her name is Cherrez Nel, and today's the day Nel wraps up her cancer treatment, but that's not the only thing the center has planned for her before she leaves.
