Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts was sworn in Thursday to preside over impeachment trial of President Donald Trump on Thursday, beginning the third impeachment trial in U.S. history.

House lawmakers prosecuting the case began Thursday by walking across the Capitol and formally delivering the articles in the Senate chambers.

Roberts then swore in all senators, who will act as jurors during the impeachment trial.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-California), one of the impeachment managers appointed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, then read the articles in their entirety. The articles allege Trump abused his presidential power by pressuring Ukraine to investigate Democratic rival Joe Biden and used military aid to the country as leverage. Trump is also charged with obstructing Congress’ ensuing probe.
