A lengthy car chase ended in Los Angeles Monday evening after the driver of the car, who was reportedly wanted for murder, bailed on foot and committed a carjacking in a nearby parking lot before crashing into a police cruiser.

According to NBC Los Angeles, there were three people inside the car at the start of the chase. During the midst of the car chase, one of the passengers bailed.

Minutes later, the driver and the other passenger fled, and went in separate directions. As helicopters swirled overhead from area television stations, the driver managed to get out of the sight of officers.

That was until the driver performed a carjacking on the driver and passenger of an SUV in a parking lot. The driver then took off, but just as he drove out of the parking lot, he collided into a police cruiser and arrested.

NBC Los Angeles reported that the driver of the car was wanted for murder.
