KFC testing vegetarian fried chicken in UK

KFC has announced that it’s testing vegetarian fried chicken, and it could be here in the United States before long.

CBS News reports that move comes as KFC's U.K. restaurants are trying to stick to new British government guidelines that advise overweight adults to eat just 400 calories at breakfast and then 600 more at lunch and again at dinner.

It's testing the plant-based chicken in the U.K. and Ireland.

If it's a hit, they'll launch it as a permanent product, next year.

It's part of a plan to slash calories by 20 percent.
